The Sumner Grade Fire started the morning of Tuesday, September 8. 

The following is an update of the Sumner Grade Fire within the Bonney Lake city limits as of 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15.

Phased Re-Entry Information

*Effective 9/13/20 at 6:00 p.m. - All evacuation areas in the City will be downgraded to a Level 1.

All evacuation areas in the City have been downgraded to a LEVEL 1. Residents are now cleared to re-enter their homes as of Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. Thank you to everyone for your patience, support, and cooperation during the evacuation and re-entry process.

Evacuation Lifted
Angeline Road evacuation area has been lifted. 

With the ability of the fire to change rapidly, PLEASE BE PREPARED should evacuation orders change. Continue to follow us and East Pierce Fire & Rescue for the most updated information. Register for PC ALERT (text “PCALERT” to 888777) for emergency notifications. Call the Pierce County Evacuation Line (253-798-1571) for evacuation questions.

Receive alerts on your cell phone, home phone, email, text messages and TTY/TDD. Choose up to five locations you want to be notified about such as your residence, workplace, children’s school and more. Sign up online or call (253) 798-6595. Pierce County ALERT is a free service that allows you to sign up and receive notifications about emergencies that may affect the locations you care about. This service allows fire, police and other agencies dealing with emergency response to send out accurate and up-to-date information that they feel residents should be informed on.

Road Closures

  • SR 410 is open in both directions between Sumner (166th Ave) and Bonney Lake (Veterans Memorial Dr). We know that the views of the terrain will be distracting. Please keep your eyes on the road and drive safely. In the coming weeks, WSDOT will continue to monitor the highway for any debris or erosion issues. Travelers may see single lane closures in the 2-mile burn section when work crews are present.
  • Myers Road East is open. Please drive safely through the neighborhoods.

 

Stock your fridge and pantry - Sept. 15

With generous donations from both large and small organizations, countless district staff, individuals and partners, the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District is ready to distribute bags of fresh produce and fridge-n-pantry items to those that have been affected by the fires, evacuations and power outages: Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the locations listed below. No need to be have a student in our district. All are welcome!

Donations

We are overwhelmed by the amount of support during these difficult times. THANK YOU for all of the support for the city, police and fire departments. We truly appreciate every offer and generous donations. However, we are unable to take donations of items. Donations of supplies add to the list of logistical tasks. Residents in the evacuation area, please double up for garbage next Wednesday, Sept. 16 and recycle on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
